Growing

The gardens and parks of Frankfurt are as colorful and diverse as the Main metropolis – green oases, that offer relaxation and variety in a very individual way.

Here a skater park in front of an industrial eastern harbor backdrop, there the mysteriously walled Chinese “Garden of Heavenly Peace”.
The most beautiful campus of Germany in the Westend, Rödelheim with the romantic garden of the Brentanos or the University of Sankt Georgen in Oberrad, embedded in an extensive landscape park based on the English model.

Things are more untamed on narrow paths through the protected “Sinai Wilderness”, a wasteland of trees, bushes and blackberry hedges, or on forays through the biotope of the “Green Lung” with its many small allotment gardens – a paradise for birds, insects and small animals.

In 1774, Johann Wolfgang von Goethe stayed in the listed Villa Meister property, located on a hill on the Main in Sindlingen, and in Rebstockpark – at that time Frankfurt’s only airport – Ferdinand Graf von Zeppelin landed with his airship for the ILA in 1909, watched by tens of thousands of visitors.

A gem in the mosaic of Frankfurt’s urban nature are the plant collections of the Botanical Garden and Palm Garden with historic greenhouses and magnificent flower displays.
